Roger Allen Messerly

Roger A. Messerly, 51, of Fort Dodge passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2014 in the Chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Deacon Dan Carney officiating. Burial will follow at North Lawn Cemetery. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday (Today) at the funeral home. Roger is survived by his wife, Angele; children, Jeanina, Allen, and Lola Messerly all at home; siblings, Curt (Sara) Messerly; Paula (William) Gibson; Anne (David) Hankel all of Fort Dodge; Leslie (James) Turner of Ontario, Canada; several loving nieces, nephews, in-laws, and many close and loving friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger E. and Beverly (Schnurr) Messerly; niece, Abbie Jean Hankel; grandparents, Elmer and Nettie Messerly and Merle and Beulah Spirek. Roger Allen Messerly was born August 23, 1962 in Fort Dodge, where he has lived all his life. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1980. On July 6, 1991 Roger was united in marriage to Angele Rivera at Dolliver Park. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge. He owned and operated Messerly Electronics until his retirement due to ill health. Roger's passion was to power para-glide. He also was a pilot who loved to fly small planes. He was Superman and Santa on many occasions, even the one flying over the crossroads mall. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
