Roger D. Bahls

Rockwell City Roger D. Bahls 92, passed away Monday, August 22, 2022 at Good Samaritan Society in Manson. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, east of Rockwell City, with Pastor Chadric Dietrich officiating. Burial of casket will be at Rosehill Cemetery, Rockwell City. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, east of Rockwell City. The Service will be live streamed on the Immanuel Trinity Lutheran Facebook page. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City is serving the family. Roger is survived by his children, Janice Guevara of Sac City, Richard (Debra) Bahls of Rockwell City, and Brenda (David) Hoit of Grimes; 5 granddaughters, Jennifer White, Amy (Justin) Rastetter, Becky (Josh) Graeve, Laurie (Josh) Hinrichs, and Melanie (Lyle) Fedders; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis; parents, Emil and Esther (Schoepke) Bahls; and brother Howard Bahls and his wife Darlene. Roger Dean Bahls was born November 26, 1929 near Rockwell City, Iowa. He graduated from Rockwell City High School, with the Class of 1947. On August 5, 1950 he was united in marriage to Phyllis Peterson at Albert City, Iowa. The couple established their home on the family farm east of Rockwell City where Roger farmed all his life. Phyllis passed away in 2006. Roger was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he was an Elder, Treasurer, Financial Secretary, and Sunday School Superintendent. He also served as Center Township Trustee, worked as the Calhoun County ASC/FSA office compliance officer, and served on the ASC and FmHA County Committees. Roger enjoyed traveling to visit family and fishing for bullheads with his family.
