Roger W. Vogt, M.D. of Fort Dodge has died aged 77 years following an extended illness and hospitalization. His final hours were spent at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge with his family. Roger was born in Denison, IA to Frank and Erma (Odefy) Vogt on September 18, 1944. He attended school in nearby Charter Oak and upon graduation from High School studied at the University of Iowa. During his college years, Roger joined the Reserve Officer Training Corps and attended the University's College of Medicine. While attending medical school, Roger met his future wife, Holly Fleisher of Cedar Rapids. The two were wed on June 14th, 1970 and remained married for nearly 52 years until Roger's passing. Upon graduating from medical school and completing an internship in Spokane, WA Roger served in the United States Air Force as a physician with the rank of Captain from 1972 - 1974 being stationed at Fairchild AFB near Spokane and then Andersen AFB in Guam. After finishing his service in the Air Force and a medical residency he relocated to Fort Dodge with his family where he lived from 1977 until his death. Roger served Fort Dodge and the surrounding communities as a physician and radiologist for 22 years until retiring in 1999. Roger was a dedicated and loving husband, father, and grandfather and loved spending time in the outdoors camping and taking trips with his family. Many such trips were spent at National Parks around the United States such as Yellowstone, Glacier, and the Smokey Mountains. After his retirement, Roger also enjoyed stamp and coin collecting, gardening, hiking, and geocaching as well as tinkering with electronics and computers. Roger is preceded in death by his parents Erma (1975) and Frank (1984); parents-in-law Kyle (1994) and Irma Fleisher (2000). Roger is survived by his wife Holly; son Sean and daughter-in-law Jennifer (Schiefelbein) of Cary, IL; daughter Melodee of Milwaukee, WI; grandchildren, Julia, Kathryn, Samuel, and Adam Vogt. A visitation will be at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge on Sunday, June 19, 2022 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM. A family-only service will be held, following which Roger will be interred at the Iowa Veteran's Cemetery in VanMeter, IA. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation be made to the Almost Home Humane Society of North Central Iowa located at 725 S 32nd Street in Fort Dodge.
