Roger W. Robeson, 70, formerly of Fort Dodge passed away Sunday, May 1, 2016 at his home in Wilton, Iowa. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2016 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Carmody and Blake Harvey, officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites presented by the United States Navy Honor Guard and V.F.W. Post 1856. A visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Roger is survived by his children, Connie Harvey of Fort Dodge; Heather (John) Kirchgatter of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Heath (Nicole); Blake (Stephanie); Corey (Callie); Bria (Ben); Miranda; Dayne (Kacey); Klae; Trinity; adopted family, Kelly Garvin and her children, Taylor; Alexa; and Gunner, all of Wilton; brother, John Vakoc of Nebraska; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Margaret (Weiler) Robeson; wife, Gertrude, earlier this year; brother, Bob Vakoc. Roger was born February 26, 1946 in Lincoln, NE. As a young child, he moved to Fort Dodge and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School. From 1966 to 1968, Roger served in the United States Navy. In 1971, Roger was united in marriage to Gertrude (Peed) Deimel and the couple made their home in Fort Dodge. He went to work for Frigidaire; while also attending college and receiving his industrial engineering degree. The couple moved to Wilton in 1987, where Roger worked at Hon Equipment in Muscatine as an industrial engineer until his retirement in 2008. During his retirement, Roger enjoyed driving school buses for the Wilton School District. Roger was a master gardener and an avid outdoorsman. He was a Cubs, Bears, Fort Dodge Dodgers, Sharks, Wilton Beavers and Iowa State Cyclones Fan. Roger received an award for Junior Achievement as an instructor and mentor. He loved his family and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. But most of all, Roger was a servant of Christ and will be greatly missed. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
