Ronald Dean Huffman, 84, of Fort Dodge and formerly of Dayton and Ventura, Iowa passed away Thursday, January 21, 2021 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 25, 2021 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Eric Howard officiating. Family will be present one hour prior to the funeral at the church for visiting. Burial will be at 3:00 PM on Monday at Sunnyside Cemetery, Charles City, Iowa with military rites presented by the U.S. Navy. Following the burial family and friends are invited to a gathering at the VFW in Charles City. A visitation will be from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Ronald is survived by his children, Mark (Sherri) Huffman of Newton, Richard (Tata) Huffman of Independence, Dawn (Steve) Farr of Fort Dodge, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, stepsons, Dean (Brenda) Humphrey of Altoona and Gene Humphrey of Ventura. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bernadine in 1999, wife, Deloris in 2019, son, Jeffery, and parents, Dewey and Pauline (Schreiber) Huffman. Ronald Dean Huffman, the youngest of 15 siblings, was born January 8, 1937 in Charles City. He attended school there and graduated from Charles City High School. He was united in marriage to Bernadine Bishop in 1958 in Charles City. Ronald joined the United States Navy and served from 1954 - 1974, during Korea and Vietnam. After his honorable discharge and retirement, Ron returned to Charles City. He then became a funeral director by attending Mortuary Science School at Worsham College, Chicago. He served families throughout Iowa, especially Marshalltown, Atlantic, Dayton and Fort Dodge. In 1990, he retired from Funeral Directing and enjoyed wintering in Jonesborough, Tennessee. In 2001, Ron married Deloris Humphrey and the couple made Ventura, Iowa their home. Ronald enjoyed traveling but especially enjoyed his loving grandchildren. Memorials may be left to the family's discretion.
