Rosemary T. Newby

Rosemary T. Newby, 89, of Fort Dodge passed away Sunday, March 1, 2020 at Trinity Regional Medical Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 P.M. Thursday, March 5, 2020 at the Marian Home Chapel with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Duncombe. A visitation will be one hour prior to the start of the service at the Marian Home. Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home is serving the family. Rosemary is survived by her children Marilyn (Lorin) Starbuck of Rogers, AR and Stephen Newby of Kenasha, WI, 7 grandchildren, siblings Ralph Ewing, Charles Ewing, Mary Fitzgerald, Howard Ewing, Gary Ewing, and Kathryn Gobeli. She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Cecelia (Conley) Ewing, husband Taylor Newby, brother Robert Ewing and sisters Charlotte Leiss and Ann Synder. Rosemary Teresa Ewing was born March 29, 1930 in rural Duncombe. She graduated from Lehigh School in 1949. Rosemary served in the Woman's Army Corp from September of 1949 until her honorable discharge in 1952. During that time, she was stationed in Tokyo, Japan and worked in a hospital there for over a year. On April 11, 1952 she was united in marriage to Taylor Newby in Fort Smith, AR. The couple later moved back to Fort Dodge. She worked at Mercy Hospital and in various nursing homes as a nurse aid but eventually had to quit working due to health problems. Memorials may be left to family discretion.
