Fort Dodge, IA – Russell E. Norine, age 96, formally of Gowrie, passed away in the evening hours of Monday, March 4, 2024 at Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2024 at Gowrie Township Cemetery with Pastor Brad Telleen officiating. Military rites will be presented by American Legion Peterson Post #431 of Gowrie. A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church, Gowrie. Laufersweiler's Palmer & Sons is serving the family. Please note dates.
Russell was born in Gowrie, IA on April 1, 1927, the oldest son of Albin and Hannah Norine. He attended Gowrie schools and Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Mr. Norine was a veteran of WWII. He was married to Ruth E. (Perry) on October 16, 1949 and together they raised three daughters. While farming he also worked at several jobs in the community eventually establishing Norine Insurance and Accounting in Gowrie. Russell was an active lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Gowrie and a member of the American Legion and Kiwanis International. He also served several terms on the Webster County Conservation Board and was a member of the morning and afternoon coffee groups in Gowrie. His greatest love was his family. Russell and Ruth enjoyed cruises and attending athletic events and music concerts with their daughters and grandchildren in Iowa, California, Minnesota, and Texas. He also enjoyed woodworking, the Gowrie 4th of July and family reunions.
He was preceded in death by; his parents; wife, Ruth; sister, Helen Magnusson; sister, Florence McCubbin Targgart; and brother, Raymond Norine.
Russell is survived by daughters, Anita (Marty) Brill of Atherton, CA; Carol (Dennis) Stroh of Savage,
MN; Karen (Ron) Laws of Palacios, TX; grandchildren, Dr. Amber (Jong) Seto; Jessica Laws; Dan (Katie) Stroh; Greta (Brandon) Tetrault; Russell Laws (Hailey); also, eight great-grandchildren, Jackson, Regina and Hannah Stroh, Charlotte Trent, Oaklyn and Easton Tetrault, Matthias Seto, and Daphne Laws; as well as other caring relatives and a host of friends.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
