June 6, 1961 — September 22, 2021

Russell W. Pliner, 60, of Fort Dodge passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at Trinity Regional Medical Center. A memorial service will be 1:00 PM Friday, October 1, 2021 at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Burial will follow in North Lawn Cemetery. A visitation will begin 1 hour prior to the start of the service at the funeral home. Military rites will be provided by the United States Army Honor Guard and the VFW Post 1856. Russell is survived by his wife, Michelle Pliner and their children, Samantha, Seth, and William of Fort Dodge; siblings, Michele (Dale) Coppernoll of Davis Junction, IL and their children, Caleb (Angel), Nathaniel, Zackary, Noah, and Levi; Scott (Jody) Pliner of Janesville, WI and their children, Rhianna and Jordan Snyder; and Kimberly (Lamar) Williams of Janesville, Wi and their son, Elyjah; mother-in-law, Deborah Vanderstelt; brother-in-law, Jonathon Vanderstelt and goddaughter, Angel Crouse. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gary and Elsie (Paugh) Pliner and grandparents, Evelyn and Lester Pliner; and father-in-law, Charles Vanderstelt. Russell William Pliner was born June 6, 1961. As a young child he and his family moved to Fort Dodge where he was raised and educated. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1980. He enlisted in the United States Army and served until his Honorable Discharge. He met the love of his life Michelle Vanderstelt in 2004 and the couple were married later that year. He was employed at Frigidaire and later became an over the road truck driver with Sharkey Transportation. Russell loved to tinker with cars and motorcycles. He loved to build things from the ground up. He was a gun enthusiast and avid marksman. He loved target shooting and was always ready for a game of pool. He also loved to roller skate. He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved his children very much. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Memorials may be left to family discretion.
