Ruth Ann Olmsted

Ruth A. Olmsted, 70, of Fort Dodge, passed away Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Trinity Regional Medical Center. A prayer service will be 2:00 PM TODAY Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Burial of cremains will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the start of the prayer service at the funeral home. Ruth is survived by her sister, Mary (Roland) Musselman of Fort Dodge and brother, Richard Olmsted of Providence, RI. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Bernice (Anderson) Olmsted and brother, William Olmsted. Ruth Ann Olmsted was born August 4, 1949 in Fort Dodge. She was raised and educated in Fort Dodge and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1967. She graduated from UNI in 1972 and received her Masters degree from Saint Paul School of Theology in 1985. Ruth was employed as a counselor through Lutheran Family Services for many years before moving to Kansas City where she worked as a substance abuse and domestic violence counselor at the Kansas City Community Center. In 2011, Ruth retired from Whelan Security in Kansas City. She was a member of the Metropolitan Community Church in Kansas City. Ruth greatly enjoyed her opportunities to fulfill occasional pastoral duties for various churches in the Kansas City area. Ruth returned to Fort Dodge in 2015. Memorials may be left to family discretion.
