Sandy Blome, age 61, died on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at her home in Chandler, AZ. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Farnhamville, IA with Pastor Jerry Raether officiating. Burial will be in the Paton Township Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, April 12, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Palmer Funeral Home in Gowrie, IA. Sandra Kay Hirsch was born in Jefferson, IA to Arlen and Laurene Joan (Schenck) Hirsch. She was baptized at Christ Lutheran Church, Churdan, IA, and confirmed at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Farnhamville, IA. Sandy grew up on the family farm in rural Paton and attended grade school through high school at Paton-Churdan. She then attended and graduated from Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, IA, with a degree in Graphic Arts. Sandy was united in marriage to Bob Blome in 1981 at First Lutheran Church in Britt, IA. Together they raised their daughter, Casey. Sandy was a member of King of Glory Lutheran Church and attended Mission del Sol Presbyterian Church. Prior to recent health issues, Sandy was very active at King of Glory, having served as the assistant church librarian and using her artistic talents to create cards and place cards for various church events. Sandys hobbies included sewing, photography, and calligraphy. She enjoyed using her calligraphy talents to create cards and envelopes for special occasions including wedding invitations, and birthday and anniversary cards for family and friends. Her cards were immediately recognizable when they arrived in the mail. Sandy is survived by her husband, Bob, of 37 years; daughter: Casey (Steven) Davidsmeyer of Jacksonville, IL; father: Arlen Hirsch of Paton, IA; sisters: Deann (Burl) Schlicht of Perry, IA, Lisa (Mike) Wiederin of Churdan, IA, Penny (Jeff) Hart of Ames, IA brother: Terry (JoAnn) Hirsch of Sioux Falls, SD; brothers-in-law: Jeff (Marvella) Blome of Thompson, IA, Doug (Susan) Blome of Des Moines, IA, Terry (Trudy) Blome of Ledyard, IA; sister-in-law: Karen (Tim) Fredrickson of Forest City, IA; as well as many other extended family members and friends.She was preceded in death by her mother, Joan; her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Arlowe and Wanda Blome. Memorials may be left to family discretion.
