Sarah "Kippy" Kathryn Taylor Rolow, 92, of Urbandale, IA passed away on August 28, 2022 at Independent Village in Waukee, IA due to complications from COVID. Born on April 11, 1930 to Florence and Mark Taylor in Ft Dodge, IA, Sarah graduated from Ft. Dodge High School in 1948. She met her future husband, Bill Rolow, at a CYO dance in Ft. Dodge and was smitten. They married on September 16, 1950 at Corpus Christi Church. During their years in Ft. Dodge, Bill and Sarah worked together as Superintendent and Matron of the Webster County Home where they raised their 5 children. Each August they took their family to Eagle Nest Lodge on Lake Winnibigoshish in northern Minnesota. Sarah treasured the time she and her family spent at Lake Winnie and went back in later years bringing her children and grandchildren. The family moved to Des Moines, IA in 1971 where Sarah worked at Amoco Oil Credit Card Division and continued to raise her three youngest children. In her later years, she loved watching her Hawkeyes and enjoyed the wildlife who came to her patio as she set out a great feast for them. When asked what her greatest achievement was, without hesitating, she replied "raising my children". Sarah was greatly loved by her children, her grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and multiple friends. Sarah is survived by her children Sarah McElvain (Rick) of Coon Rapids, MN, Carolyn Hanig of Tulsa, OK, Claudia Rolow of Urbandale, IA, Bill Rolow (Tina) of Los Angeles, CA, Tim Rolow (Natalie) of Grimes, IA, 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Rolow, son Matthew Rolow, grandson Nik Hanig, sister Patty Berry, and brother Mark "Bud" Taylor. Visitation will be held at Laufersweiler Funeral Home starting at noon on Friday, September 2, 2022 with services to follow at the funeral home beginning at 1:30 pm.
