Scott James Buckroyd

April 24, 1957 — December 20, 2013

Scott J. Buckroyd, 56, of Waterloo, formerly of Fort Dodge, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 27th at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Survivors include his daughters, Angie (Jon) DeWaard of Ames; Amy (Chris) Terry of Eagle Grove; Lara (Den) Buckroyd of Mason City; grandchildren, Alice DeWaard, Hannah and Dane Terry, and Jayce Buckroyd; and a brother, Tom Buckroyd of Ft. Mohave, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Leota (Hartsock) Buckroyd, and a granddaughter, Madeleine DeWaard. Scott James Buckroyd was born on April 24, 1957 in Fort Dodge. He attended schools here and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1975. He then attended Iowa State University as an Art Major for several years. On July 15, 1978 he was united in marriage to Linda Lind and the couple made their home in Fort Dodge. They were later divorced. Scott worked and lived in Fort Dodge for most of his life. On February 14, 1990 he was united in marriage to Deb Buckroyd and the couple later divorced. In 1994, Scott was involved with the Hotel Eiler's Fire that nearly took his life and made his home in Waterloo. He enjoyed classical rock, coin and baseball card collecting, and vacations to Twin Lakes and Okoboji. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
