Rockwell City Sheldon "Sid" E. Sidmore 99, passed away Monday, April 20, 2020 at Simpson Health Center, Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge. Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings of no more than 10 people due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family will not be having a public Funeral Service. A Private Family Funeral Service will be Thursday, April 23, 2020 at St. Pauls Lutheran & Presbyterian Church, Rockwell City, with Pastor James Davis officiating. Burial of casket will be at Rosehill cemetery, Rockwell City, with Military Rites by the Rockwell City Veterans Organization. A public viewing will be 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, at the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City. Memorials may be left to St. Pauls Lutheran & Presbyterian Church, Rockwell City. Sid is survived by his daughter Jill Haden and her husband Gregg of Fort Dodge; granddaughters, Jennie Woodward and her husband Matt of Cedar Falls, and Jamie Haden of Fort Dodge; and other relatives and a host of friends. Sid was preceded in death by his wife Laura; parents, Arthur and Jennie (Fahr) Sidmore; and brother Claire Sidmore. Sheldon Earl Sidmore was born March 21, 1921 at Rolfe, Iowa. He graduated from Rockwell City High School, with the Class of 1939. Following his education, Sid worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigations in Washington, DC. In 1943, he served in the United States Army during World War II until his honorable discharge in 1946, attaining the rank of Sergeant. On November 28, 1948 he was united in marriage to Laura Berg at the Skaraborg Lutheran Church in Piper. The couple made their home in Rockwell City where Sid worked for the Iowa State Highway Commission until his retirement in 1982. Laura passed away in 2015. Sid was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran & Presbyterian Church, St. Pauls Mens Club, AmVets, and the Twin Lakes Golf Club.
