Sherley M. Connors, 89, of Fort Dodge, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Humboldt Care Center South. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 14, 2016 in the Chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. A private burial will be held at Corpus Christi Cemetery. A visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Sherley is survived by her sons, Dana (Penny) Connors of Bode; Scott Connors of Albuquerque, NM; daughter, Michaele (Pat Lawson) Connors of Queen Creek, AZ; 8 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Goldie (Latham) Grosz; husband, Daniel in 1989; son, Daniel Connors; and brother, Marvin Grosz. Sherley M. Gosz was born February 17, 1927 in Fort Dodge. She was raised and educated in Fort Dodge, graduating from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1945. Sherley was united in marriage to Daniel Connors on February 1, 1946 at Corpus Christi Church. The couple lived most of their life between Fort Dodge and New Mexico. Sherley was an active member of the Fort Dodge Humane Society for 20 years. She served as the president and managed the shelter for many years. Sherley also worked at Fort Dodge Bingo and was very involved in the community. She was chairman for the Election Poll and was a 4-H Leader for many years teaching horsemanship and animal care. Sherley was one of the first women to coach little league. She had been a blood donor and donated 100 gallons since 2001. Sherley was a member of Sacred Heart Church. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
