Shirley A. Gibbons, 81, of Fort Dodge died Monday, June 19, 2017 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Funeral services will be held 1:00 Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Blackwell officiating. A visitation will be 11:00 to 1:00 prior to the service at the church. Shirley is survived by her sons, Craig (Sherry) Gibbons of Fort Dodge; Randy (Jani) Gibbons of Worthing, SD; daughter, Sue (Phil) Skramstad of Marshall, MN; and daughter-in-law, Sheila Gibbons of Boone; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Linda Dahl; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Anna (Peterson) Davison; husband, Ronald; son, David; infant daughter, Patricia; son-in-law, David Buysse; brothers, Lewis and Donald Davison; and sister, Norma Holbrook. Shirley Ann Gibbons was born February 19, 1936 in Gilmore City, IA. She was raised in Varina and graduated from the Varina High School in 1954. After graduation, Shirley married her farm boy from Iowa, Ronald Gibbons. They made their home in Iowa, Illinois, and Minnesota; moving often with Ron's railroad job making lifelong friends along the way. She was a caring homemaker, raising their four children as well as volunteering at the UMC and always extending a helping hand. Shirley loved her family always extending a warm hug with welcoming arms, treating all she met with genuine love and interest. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting; making well over 200 prayer shawls for her church, doing puzzles, listening to music, watching Iowa Basketball, her fishing trips, traveling, bird watching and visiting with family and friends. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
