Shirley Mae Hiveley was born at home on the farm May 22, 1940 to her parents, Paul and Eva (Hoover) Hiveley. She attended Washington #10 country school through 8th grade. (They still have a reunion every year!) She graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1958. Shirley was united in marriage to Jim Chase in June of 1958 at The Church of the Open Bible in Eagle Grove. The couple made their home in Fort Dodge and later divorced. She worked in the kitchen at the hospital for 4 years and then started at Globe Union in 1971. She retired from Electrolux in October 2007 when she was 67 and a half years old! Shirley loved the holidays. She decorated for each and every one. She enjoyed the flowers in her garden in the spring and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She collected many things from TY beanie babies to anything Coca Cola. She loved Tweety bird and a good western. Many hours were spent scrapbooking and doing word searches. She spoiled her grand pups every Sunday with French fries from McDonalds and always had her nails done. Nothing beat a day full of shopping at Target and Hobby Lobby with her peppermint hot chocolate from Starbucks. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorials may be left to family discretion.
