Shirley Stewart

Fort Dodge - Shirley A. Stewart, 93, passed away Tuesday March 25, 2025, peacefully with loving care at Bickford Assistant Living in Fort Dodge.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday March 29, 2025, at Laufersweiler Palmer & Sons Funeral Home, Gowrie, with Lay Minister Beth Carlon officiating. Burial will be in Lost Grove Township Cemetery in Harcourt. There will be a visitation from 1:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.

Shirley was born on November 18, 1931, of William and Thelma (Nelson) Anderson. She graduated from Newell, Iowa High School and Iowa State University with a degree in Home Economics. Shirley married Ernest Stewart on May 29, 1955, in Newell, IA. They had four children, Susan (Bill) Slater of Guthrie Center, Calvin (Rhonda) Stewart of Fort Dodge, Cindy (Andy) Zuspann of Middletown, and Brian Stewart of Shalimar, FL. The couple moved to a farm east of Callender in 1960 where they lived and raised their children. Shirley remained on the farm until 2023, when she moved to Bickford Assisted Living in Fort Dodge. She enjoyed reading, spending time with her family, and traveling. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Shirley is survived by 3 children, 7 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. Her parents, husband Ernest and daughter, Susan proceeded her in death.
