Stephen Alberson Gibson was born on June 9, 1951 in Omaha, NE. The family lived in Austin, MN, until Steve was in 8th grade when the family moved to Fort Dodge. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1969. Steve then attended Buena Vista University at Iowa Central Community College where he received his R.N. degree. On August 21, 1971, he was united in marriage to Jodie Rosien and from this union 2 children were born, Nate and Abbie. The couple were later divorced. He met and married the love of his life Jeanne, and they were married on June 9, 1993. They made their home in Fort Dodge. For over 40 years Steve worked as a registered nurse and healthcare manager; highlighting 17 years in Emergency care, manager of multiple hospital departments, program development and physician recruitment. Following his retirement, he worked at Laufersweiler Funeral Home with his son-in-law Luke. Steve loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved cheering on Iowa State teams, working with various volunteer projects, and was the past treasurer of Lizard Creek Blues Society. There wasn't a home project too big for Steve to handle. He could fix, repair, and build anything he put his mind to. His workshop at home where he spent lots of his free time, was his special place where he both worked and relaxed. Throughout the years Steve's heart was filled with the many pets he had. He would often find himself adopting and caring for older dogs and cats no one else wanted or could care for anymore. Steve enjoyed golf, building guitars and donating to groups and individuals, woodworking, collecting and repairing vintage hifi and radios and listening to music, especially Blues.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family, to Unity Point Hospice or to any animal shelter of their choice.
