Susan J. Johnson, 59, of Des Moines, formerly of Fort Dodge, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2015 in the Chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Rev. John Sersland, assistant pastor of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of a visitation, there will be a luncheon following the service. Susan is survived by her sister, Julie (Jeff) Harp of Grimes; aunt, Judy (Dean) Chubick of Alamo TX; uncle, Gene Spiess of West Des Moines; nephew, Nicholas Arancibia of Des Moines; nieces, Kaylee Harp of Grimes; Jennifer (Jeff) Brown of Fort Dodge; great nephews, Maddox and Cameron Brown; beloved furry kids, (Britt) and (Bentley) and cousins. She was preceded in death by parents, Elwood and Kay (Spiess) Johnson; sister, Laurie Johnson; grandmother, Maxine Spiess. Susan Jean Johnson was born October 30, 1955 in West Des Moines. She attended school at Fort Dodge Senior High, graduating in 1973. Susan continued her education at the Nashville Metro General School of Radiologic Technology. After receiving her degree, Susan worked as a Radiologist Technician at Iowa Methodist Des Moines until retiring in 2010. Susan enjoyed watching Joel Olsteen every Sunday and read his inspiration book daily. She loved her two dogs and a good cup of coffee. Susan liked shopping at TJ Maxx and making crafts. She was a very generous and giving woman, always thinking of others before herself. Susan was the best aunt and sister ever and will be loved and missed by all. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
