Teddy J. Cook, 75, of Fort Dodge, died Thursday July 17, 2014, at Trinity Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 21st at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the V.F.W. Post 1856 and the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 3:00 p.m. and a Vigil service at 6:00 p.m. all at the funeral home. Survivors include his wife, Betty of Fort Dodge; daughters, Susan Cook of Fort Dodge; Judy Pauk and her husband Charles of Carroll; sons, Ed Cook (Andrea Swanstrom) of Fort Dodge; Jeff Cook and his wife Jenny of Fort Dodge; Pat Cook and his wife Tina of Des Moines; David Cook and his wife Emily of Fort Dodge; 16 grandchildren; brothers, Ronald Cook of Lee Summit, MO; Dennis Cook of Atoka, TN; sister, Julie Mannes of NC; step-sisters, Gayla Bonner and Kimberly Wiggins both of Memphis, TN; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Cook; mother, Pauline Benton Thornton; brothers, James and Gene Cook; and his granddaughter, Claire Dornath Cook; step-brothers, Michael and Timothy Cooksey. Teddy Joe Cook was born on July 13, 1939, in Dexter, MO. Teddy was raised and educated in Dexter; graduating from Dexter High School in 1958. He served in the National Guard and Army Reserve from 1955 to 1964. Teddy played minor league baseball and was even called up to try out with the St. Louis Cardinals. On May 28, 1966, Teddy was united in marriage to Elizabeth "Betty" Wilson at Holy Rosary Church. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge. Teddy worked for U.P.S. for over 30 years retiring in 1996. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish. Teddy was a long time St. Louis Cardinal fan. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
