Teresa Casady

On Wednesday, November 10th, 2021, Teresa L. Casady, 68, of Fort Dodge, IA gave her final "Cheers" surrounded by her family. Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 15, 2021 at Holy Trinity Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. A visitation will be from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 14th at Laufersweiler Funeral Home in Fort Dodge. Teresa is survived by her loving husband Edward Jr. (Eddie), children Marisa Dahl, (Nic) of Grimes and Ted Casady, (Sarah) of Apple Valley, MN. as well as her four beautiful and devoted grandchildren: Brayton and Stella Dahl, Reagan and Jordan Casady. She is also survived by her mother, LaVonne (Bonnie) Kersten, and sisters Holly (Rich) Hickman, Ann (Leroy) Gessmann, Susan (Doug) Nicholas and brother-in-law Joseph Casady. Teresa is also survived by many nieces, great-nieces and great-nephews. Teresa was reunited in Heaven with her father, Ronald (Dennis) Wiewel and infant son, Anthony Casady. Grandparents Ronald and Emily Wiewel, Lola and "Buck" Kelley, and in-laws Edward Sr. and Stella Casady were standing by to greet Teresa. Teresa L. Wiewel was born February 17, 1953 in Fort Dodge. She graduated Fort Dodge Senior High in 1971. She continued her education at the University of Northern Iowa graduating in 1975. Teresa met Eddie Casady in 1971 and married in 1975. That same year, Teresa started her educating career in Humboldt before joining the Fort Dodge Community School District from where she retired in 2011 after 35 years. While teaching, she coached cheerleading and in 2005 earned the Iowa Cheerleading Coaches' Association Coach of the Year. Teresa Casady competed in the Miss Iowa contest after being crowned Miss Webster County in 1971. She was a member of the University of Northern Iowa Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and the Italian Mutual Auxiliary Society. She was a lector at Holy Rosary & Corpus Christi Parishes for many years. Teresa was a devoted mother to Marisa and Ted, sharing in every one of their experiences from t-ball, basketball, cheerleading, Junior Engineering Technical Society (JETS), but especially her love of baking spritz cookies. She also perfected the Casady family recipe for spaghetti sauce and meatballs. She was fortunate enough to have the title of Grandma, and looked forward to reading, laughing, and playing with her grandchildren. Teresa had a passion for musicals with Mamma Mia, Grease, and Wicked among her favorites. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association (https://www.alz.org).
