Teri S. Mcfarland

GOWRIE TERI S. MCFARLAND 74 passed away Tuesday October 1, 2019 at the Paula Baber Hospice House. A private graveside service will be held for the family at Gowrie Township Cemetery. Teri was born in Fort Dodge on February 17, 1945 to the late Melvin and Elda (Nahnsen) Carlson. She graduated from Cedar Valley High School in Somers in 1963. She married Ed McFarland on April 27, 1963. Together they traveled and lived many different places before settling in Torrance, California in 1975. After Ed passed away Teri moved back to Gowrie in 2011. Teri was a fun and loving person who always enjoyed laughing with her friends and family. Some of Teris favorite activities were playing bridge, doing crossword puzzles, watching football and watching Wheel of Fortune every night. Most of all though, Teri loved spending time with and enjoying her granddaughters who she loved dearly. Teri is survived by her daughters Susan Scarano of Caldwell, Idaho and Jamie (Robin) Christenson of Lakewood, California; granddaughters Rachel Christenson of San Francisco, California and Katoya Smith of Nissa, Oregon; sister Toby (Bob) DeSmidt of Sioux City; brother Jim (Marcia) Carlson of Lincoln, Nebraska; brother Tom (Nadya) Carlson of Ocala, Florida; sister Sandy (Morris) Mitchell of Parachute, Colorado; sister-in-law Vickie Toms of Lake View, Iowa; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, in-laws, husband Ed McFarland, sisters Connie Coil and Betty Peterson, brothers-in-law Dean Coil and Darwin Peterson and sister-in-law Patricia Carlson.
