Thomas A. Schwanz, 82, of Badger, passed away Monday September 11, 2023, at Fort Dodge Health and Rehab. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday September 15, 2023, at Badger Lutheran Church with Pastor Scott Meier officiating. Burial will follow in North Lawn Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Friday at the church. Laufersweiler Funeral Home is serving the family. Thomas is survived by his daughters, Tammi (Hank) Trites of Granville, Ohio and Jill Eldal of Moorland; grandchildren, Adam and Hailey Schwanz of Fort Dodge, and Josie Eldal of Moorland; great grandchildren, Reeve, Alyson, and Emma Schwanz; siblings, Charles (Sondra) Schwanz of Fort Dodge, Johanna (Larry) McConahay of Iowa City, Leah (Frank) Segreto of Fort Dodge, and Rosie (Roger) Martens of Colorado. Thomas is preceded in death by his wife, Judy; parents, Clarence and Irene Schwanz; son, Joel Schwanz; brother, Leo Schwanz; and son-in-law, Paul Eldal. Thomas Andrew Schwanz was born on January 10, 1941, in Wall Lake where he was raised and educated, graduating from Wall Lake High School in 1959. On July 15, 1962, Tom was united in marriage to Judy Christenson in Fort Dodge. The couple made their home in Badger. Thomas worked for Hines Lumber Company in Fort Dodge and at W&H Coop until his retirement. He was a good friend and neighbor to all. He was a jack-of-all-trades and an excellent handyman. Above all else, he loved his family. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
