Thomas G. Bilstad

Thomas Gene Bilstad, of Somers was called Home on March 25, 2021 at the age of 67. Private family funeral services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, March 30, 2021. Burial will follow in the Callender Cemetery. A public visitation for friends and family will be 4:00 to 7:00 PM Monday, March 29, 2021 at Fulton Lutheran Church in Roelyn. Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home is serving the family. A man driven by faith and integrity, Tom led a fulfilling life centered around his family and farming. He married Jennifer (Wilhelm) on April 10, 1976 in Lu Verne. They established their home and raised their children on their farm outside of Somers, IA. While farming was his passion, his five grandchildren brought him the most joy. Tom was a beacon of strength and will be remembered for his character, kind heart and unwavering principles. His family will carry on his legacy with pride. Tom was preceded in death by his father, Gene, and two sons, Eric and Michael. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer, mother, Grace Bilstad of Callender, four children, Nathan (Candy), Joel, Aaron all of Somers and Kimberly (Alex) Broderick of Waukee, four sisters Diane (Don) Minier of Ringsted, RaeAnn (Jim) Lang of Urbandale, Linda (Dan) Eklund of Huxley and Sue (Steve) Dooley of Grimes, five grandchildren and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Memorials may be left to family discretion. The funeral service will be live streamed via the Laufersweiler Funeral Home Facebook page.
