Tim P. Flaherty, 50, of Fort Dodge died Monday, September 6, 2021 at Trinity Regional Medical Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 10, 2021 at Holy Trinity Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in Corpus Christi Cemetery. A visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the church. The family requests that all wear a mask whole attending. Laufersweiler Funeral Home is serving the family. Tim is survived by his wife, Jodi; children, Shannon, Sean, Katie, Maggie; parents, Mick and Alyce (Moss) Flaherty of Fort Dodge siblings, Krysi Flaherty of Eugene, OR, Susan (Mark) Laufersweiler of Fort Dodge, Lisa (Ryan) Reisner of Fort Dodge, and Amy (Adam) White of Altoona; nieces and nephews, Andrew and Elizabeth Dawson, Zach and Emily Munson, JT, Griffin, and Josie Laufersweiler, Mckenzie Flaherty, Calahan Reisner, Kaleb, Kennedy, and Caroline White. Timothy Patrick Flaherty was born December 4, 1970 in Fort Dodge. He attended Fort Dodge Catholic Schools and graduated from Saint Edmond High School in 1989. He then attended Creighton University and graduated in 1993. Soon after he met the love of his life, Jodi Dawson. The couple were united in marriage June 8, 1996. Tim's very first job was a paper route for the Fort Dodge Messenger. When he was just 15 years old, he began working part time for Hy-Vee. After he graduated from college, he became full time at the Hy-Vee in Fort Dodge. In 1995, Tim became the 2nd assistant at the Omaha Hy-Vee and by 1997 he had moved to the assistant position in the Mason City West store. In 2003, Tim became the Store Director of the Omaha Oakview Hy-Vee and in 2005 he became the Store Director in Mason CIty. In 2012, led Tim to the Fort Dodge Store Director position and in 2021 he had become the District Hy-Vee Store Director. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Crime Stoppers and he served on the Iowa Central Business Program Advisory Committee. Tim cherished time spent with his children, watching them in their activities, and could not be prouder of their accomplishments. He enjoyed listening to music, playing golf, taking road trips, playing cards, and being active in church, especially volunteering as an usher. Tim was a Nebraska Husker football fan and cheered for the Creighton Blue Jay's basketball team. When he wasn't working tirelessly, Tim could be found in a boat on the lake loving time spent with his family and friends. Tim will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to St. Edmond Catholic Schools, Holy Trinity Parish, Unity Point Hospital Foundation, or the Iowa Donor Network.
