Rockwell City Velma V. Jacob 85, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Trinity Regional Medical Center, Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 18, 2018 at the United Methodist Church, Rockwell City, with Pastor Anita Bane officiating. Burial will be at West Lawn Cemetery, Lehigh. Visitation will 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, at the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City. Velma is survived by her children, Eileen Miller of Dayton, Leanne (Russ Courter) Everhart of Lake City, Jon (Wendie) Jacob of Leonard, ND, Charlene (Jeff) Lippincott of Early, Dean Jacob of Panama City, FL, Allen (Patricia) Jacob of Churdan, and Joyce Baxter of Peterson; 21 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister Lois Thielmann of Manson; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles; her parents, Paul B. and Grace F. (Crouse) Buffinton; sisters, Alveda Wendland, Darlene Oberhelman, and Pauline Kestner, and Violet Schoettmer; brothers, Lloyd and Glen Buffinton; two infant brothers; and sons-in-law, Bob Everhart, Frank Miller, and Don Phipps. Velma Viola Buffinton was born July 24, 1933 at Varina, Iowa. She graduated from Pocahontas High School, with the Class of 1953. On June 12, 1955 she was united in marriage to Charles W. Jacob at Fort Dodge, and seven children were born to this union. In 1967, they moved to Rockwell City. Charles passed away in 1982. Velma worked several jobs in the area including as a traffic controller for Fort Dodge Asphalt until her retirement. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Rockwell City.
