Vernice M. Hoops-Wagner, 98, of Humboldt passed away Friday, March 14, 2025 at Humboldt Long Term Care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 21st at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Church in Humboldt. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Humboldt. A visitation will be on Friday from 9:30 to 11:00 AM at the church.
Laufersweiler Funeral Home is serving the family.
Vernice is survived by her grandchildren, Deb (Dave) Place, Darcy (Craig) Hickethier, and David (Sheri) Andersen; 6 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; stepchildren, Judy Miller, Denny Wagner, and Barb Bennett; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Joyce (Hoops) Petersen and brother-in-law, Richard Hoops; many special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Agnes (Moore) Ford; husbands, L.K. "Bill" Hoops and Lloyd Wagner; sons, Billy and Bobby Hoops; daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Denny Andersen; step-son, Dale Wagner; step-grandsons, Cory Wagner and Kevin Wagner; step-daughter-in-law, Delores Wagner, step-son-in-law, Kenny Bennett; and siblings, Helen Ford, Catherine Garey, Ruth Bessel, and James Ford.
Vernice Mary Ford was born July 20, 1926 in Janesville, Wisconsin. She was raised and educated in Janesville, graduating from Janesville High School. On July 28, 1945, she was united in marriage to Laverne K. "Bill" Hoops. The couple lived in Janesville until establishing their home in Humboldt in 1948. The couple assisted with operating the family business, Hoops Sale Barn and Vernice managed the restaurant. She then worked for Farm Bureau for several years before becoming the office manager for Farm Service. Bill passed away in 1989 and Vernice later married Lloyd Wagner in 1991. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Mary's Ladies Society, the Red Hat Society and numerous card clubs. Vernice enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, and hosting family and friends at her home.
Memorials may be left to family discretion.
