Vernon R. Jarvis

Rockwell City Vernon R. Jarvis 88, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2019 at Grandview Health Care Center in Dayton, Iowa. Private Family Graveside Service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Rosehill Cemetery, Rockwell City, with Pastor Gary Snook officiating. Military Rites by the Rockwell City Veterans Organization. Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City is serving the family. Vernon is survived by his daughter Cindy (Kurt) Sittig of Rockwell City; grandchildren, Michael (Lyndee Mitchell) Sittig, Craig (Josey) Sittig, Laci (Shawn) Deal, and MJ Sittig; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and brother Verlyn Jarvis of Sac City; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Nellie (Masteller) Jarvis; sisters, Hazel Patterson, Mary Heyle, Elizabeth Ciletsinger, Flossie Wulkow, Velma McCullough, and Thelma Leitz; and brothers, Bernard Jarvis, and William Jarvis Jr. Vernon R. Jarvis was born March 19, 1931 at Sac City, Iowa. He attended schools in Sac City. Vernon served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1955. He was united in marriage to Darlene Wolf and the couple later divorced. Vernon worked at a hardware store in Fort Dodge and was owner and operator of bars in Sac City and Rockwell City for many years until his retirement. Vernon enjoyed cooking, fishing, watching NASCAR Driver Jeff Gordon, his animals, and being with his family.
