Violet Eileen Schoettmer, 94 of Duncombe passed away Monday, October 1, 2018 at the Crestview Care Center in Webster City. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will follow at Saint Joseph's Cemetery in Duncombe. A visitation will be 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Violet is survived by her children, Cliff of Estero, FL; Donna Vinsant of Webster City; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Velma Jacob of Fort Dodge and Lois Thielmann of Manson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Grace (Crouse) Buffinton; husband, Fred Schoettmer; son, James; two infant brothers; brothers, Loyd and Glen; and sisters, Alveda Wendland, Darlene Oberhelman and Pauline Koester. Violet was born July 2, 1924 in Pocahontas County. She graduated from Laurens Conciliated High School in 1943. On October 8, 1947, Violet was united in marriage to Fred Schoettmer at Corpus Christi Church. The couple established their home and farmed near Duncombe. After Fred's passing, Violet moved back to Fort Dodge and worked in various jobs. She retired in 1989 from Quality Plus. Violet was a member of Holy Trinity Parish. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
