Virginia L Koester

Virginia L. Koester, 84, of Fort Dodge passed away Thursday, November 23, 2017 at the Marian Home. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor Ed Durand officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Virginia is survived by her son, David Koester of Webster City; daughter, Kari Lieser (David) of Fort Dodge; daughter, Barbara Swan of Lake Havasu City, AZ; 8 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; Sydney and Dorothy (Elliott) Fox; step-fathers, Don Chapman and Stephen Campbell; husband Delbert Koester; son, Bruce Koester; grandson, Jarid Koester and brothers, Blaine Fox and Kenneth Fox. Virginia Louise Fox was born July 8, 1933 in Jefferson. The family moved to Boone soon after. She started school in Boone and then in 1943, the family moved to Fort Dodge. She graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1951. Virginia worked at the Fort Dodge Labs and on May 16, 1953 was united in marriage to Delbert Koester at St. John's Lutheran Church in Vincent. The couple moved to the Duncombe area and farmed there for 38 years. They returned to Fort Dodge in 1981 where Virginia became a partner in Gallimaufry Gift Shop on Central Avenue for 10 years. Virginia was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church where she was a Sunday school teacher. She was a Ladies Aid, Member of the Farm Bureau, a 4H Leader for 9 years, belonged to a quilt club, taught sewing and needlework classes at Northwest Fabric and taught ICCC Adult Classes. Memorials may be left to family discretion.
