Virginia Lee Larson, the daughter of Harold and Cecil (Wilkinson) Larson, was born on a farm near Kanawha, Iowa on May 16, 1923. She attended country school in Wright County and graduated from Kanawha High School in 1940. In 1941, she married Robert Holden Christensen in Fairmont, Minnesota and the couple made their home in Humboldt. Virginia was employed for various Humboldt business including Johnson Department Store, Saul Studio, and Snyder Hardware. From August 1970 to 1993, she worked side by side her son, Robert II in the day to day operation of Humboldt Radio, Station KHBT-FM. Robert Sr., passed away in August 2000. Virginia continued to maintain her home in Humboldt with her loving dogs, Pierce and Dolly. She was member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Virginia is survived by her two children, Robert II of Johnston, IA; and Linda (Rodney) Poppinga of Fort Dodge, IA; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Holden Christensen; brothers, John and Gene; and great-granddaughter, Hope Lee Ann Anderson. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 8, 2014 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Burial will follow at Indian Mound Cemetery. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home is serving the family. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
