Vonn Vanderpool

Vonn M Vanderpool, 86, of Fort Dodge, passed away Monday, October 14, 2024, at Friendship Haven.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, October 18, 2024, at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Burial will follow in West Lawn Cemetery in Lehigh with Military Rites by the US Navy Honor Guard and VFW Post 1856. There will be a Visitation on Thursday, October 17, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Laufersweiler Funeral Home.

Vonn is survived by his wife, Marcia; sons, Randy (Becky) Vanderpool of Fort Dodge, and David (Marcia) Vanderpool of Washburn, IA; grandchildren, Ryan, Katie, Kyle, and Kevin; great-grandchildren, Liam and Weston; and his sister, Everyl Higby of Fort Dodge.

Vonn is preceded in death by his parents, William and Beryl (Baker) Vanderpool, and his brother Randal Vanderpool.

Vonn Merwin Vanderpool was born on March 12, 1938, to William and Beryl Vanderpool in Lehigh. He was raised and educated in Lehigh, graduating from Lehigh High School. On June 5, 1964, he was united in marriage to Marcia Phillips and the couple lived in Lehigh. In 1973, they moved to Fort Dodge and established their home. He was employed with Iowa Parcel Service for several years, later becoming E.F.D. Vonn then worked for Iowa Medical Supply until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting and Bowling; especially loved playing craps at the casino.
