Walter R. DeLanoit, 90, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at Trinity Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 12th at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery with military rites conducted by the V.F.W. Post 1856 and U.S. Marine Corps Honor Guard. Survivors include daughters Cathy Vosika of Fort Dodge, Susie (Rudy) Matulka of Omaha, Jackie Peterson of Luther, sons Mike (Misty) DeLanoit of Badger, Dan (Cathy) DeLanoit of Fort Dodge and John (Julie) DeLanoit of Ankeny, 21 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and his sister Alice Lorraine Steiner of Fort Dodge. He was preceded in death by his wife Marian, son Doug DeLanoit, granddaughter Amanda Vosika, parents Peter and Marie (VanSteenberge) DeLanoit, brothers Robert Louis, Paul Leroy and Clarence Leon DeLanoit, sisters Flora "Elaine" Phillips, Delores "Dee" Marguerite Wolf and Marie "Mary" Lyons Hood. Walter Richard DeLanoit was born on March 14, 1930 in Rinard, IA. From 1945 to 1952 he served in the U.S. Marines and then 7 years in the reserves. On August 5, 1954 he was united in marriage to Marian Ricklefs and the couple established their home on a farm in rural Webster County. Walter enjoyed time on the farm with raising his mules, antique tractor rides, and his bulldog Matilda. He loved time spent with his family and friends. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
