CALLENDER - Wanda Elaine Dorsey (Christensen), 81, of Callender, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025 peacefully in her home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Callender, officiated by Pastors Greg and Deb Stano. Interment will follow at Callender Cemetery. A visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Friday, March 7, 2025 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Callender. Laufersweiler's Palmer & Swank Funeral in Gowrie is overseeing the arrangements.
Wanda was born on January 9, 1944, in Bradgate, Iowa. She graduated from Humboldt High School in 1962 and, following graduation, attended The American Institute of Business (AIB) in Des Moines, Iowa. Wanda and her late husband, Steve, were married on November 19, 1977. They made their home in Callender in 1978, where they raised their only son, A.J. Together, they owned and operated Dorsey Construction until 2012.
Wanda worked for many area businesses, including the Fort Dodge Boy Scout Office, Tom Kelley Ford, Iowa Central Community College, and Fort Dodge Labs. She retired in 2010.
Wanda enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, shopping, dining out with friends and family, loving and celebrating with her many nieces and nephews, relaxing with a book, and watching The Price Is Right and soap operas.
She is survived by her son, A.J. (Katie) Dorsey of Callender; grandson, Drew; granddaughters, Charlie and Nora; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tom Dorsey, Jon Dorsey,
Michel (Roger) Swanson, DyAnn (Irv) Fiala, Kathy (Dennis) Peterson, Kristy (Rex) Blunk, Sara (Tom) Barkley, and Mary Dorsey.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Steven Dorsey; her parents, Richard Henry Christensen and Esther (Pederson) Christensen-Hall; her stepfather, Fred W. Hall; her brother, Richard "Dale" Christensen; her stepsisters, Betty Tinkin and Tressa Strahorn; her brothers-in-law, Kelly Dorsey, Joe Dorsey, and Roger Swanson; and her parents-in-law, Joseph and Maxine (Lowry) Dorsey.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
