July 6, 1943 — March 23, 2024

Wayne C. Anderson, 80, of Coalville passed away Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2024 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church. Entombment will be at the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum in North Lawn Cemetery. A visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Laufersweiler Funeral Home.

Wayne Charles Anderson, son of Gilbert and Viola (Weaver) Anderson, was born July 3, 1943 at home at near Johnston Clay Works and Kalo, Iowa.

On July 18, 1964, he married Kay Beadle at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in July.

In the early years of their marriage they owned horses and were members of the River Valley Saddle Club. They participated and won awards in area competitions in ground pickup, pole bending, and barrel racing.

Wayne's first job was working for Carney's in Fort Dodge where he hauled cars locally and to surrounding states. In 1964, he began working for Alvin Anderson at Anderson's Standard Station at the corner of 2nd Avenue and South 7th Street in Fort Dodge. In 1977, Wayne and Kay bought Anderson's Standard Station. They operated it until his retirement in 2000, when they sold it to their son, Doyle. Over the years as Standard/Amoco station owners, they went on several trips awarded to them by the company.

For 18 years after retiring, Wayne worked for Law Brothers Farms, rural Duncombe, during the spring planting and fall harvest seasons.

They also enjoyed camping and logged over 80,000 miles on their motorhome traveling all over the United States. For over 10 years they spent winters in Arizona.

Wayne enjoyed fishing and golfing. He golfed regularly at the Webster City Links Golf Course and at the Dayton Oaks Golf Course. He was a talented woodworker and he designed and built furniture and the kitchen cabinets in their home. A few years ago he took up cooking. Although he hadn't had much previous cooking experience, he was not afraid to try anything new and even made his own homemade dried egg noodles.

When the weather was nice, Wayne and Kay loved to take golf carts rides around Coalville and along their route they passed out dog treats to all the neighbor's dogs. They lived their entire married life in Coalville and their welcome mat was always out for friends and family to stop and visit with them.

He is survived by his wife, Kay; son, Doyle (Jennifer) of Moorland; grandsons, Colten (Emily) Anderson and Cody Anderson and granddaughter, Madison Anderson; one brother, Keith (Jeannie) Anderson, of Fort Dodge; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his brothers, Ronnie and Gary Anderson; sisters, Carolyn Woodman and Phyllis Faith; and parents-in-law, Bob and Phyllis Beadle.
