Wayne O'Tool

Wayne O'Tool, 83, of Fort Dodge died Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Trinity Regional Medical Center. Funeral mass will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Holy Trinity Church. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Masks are required. Wayne was born January 17, 1938 to Bernadine (Wempe) and Lester O'Tool on a family farm near Jolley, Iowa. He graduated from Pomeroy High School in 1955. He farmed and lived on the family farm for several years. On June 16, 1962 he was united in marriage to Sandra Heun at Corpus Christi Church. On October 1962 he joined the Iowa Army National Guard for six years of service. Wayne worked for Geo. A. Hormel for nineteen years until closing the plant locally, then in Fremont, Nebraska for one year. He returned to Fort Dodge and worked at Saint Edmond High School as custodian and grounds keeper for twelve years and then C&S Products until retirement in 2015. Wayne was a member of Holy Trinity Parish, Knights of Columbus 3rd degree, Elks Lodge and the Moose. He enjoyed many summers at Lake Okoboji where they had a summer home for 22 years. He loved planting large gardens and giving away vegetables to others. Wayne was proud of his Irish ancestry. He loved playing pool and watching his children and grandchildren playing sports throughout high school and college. Wayne was also an avid Hawkeye fan and followed the Hawkeye football team as a season ticket holder for 20 years. He is survived by his wife Sandra, daughter Tamela Boeckman of Fort Dodge, son Timothy O'Tool (Travis Clarkson) of Greenville, SC. They have 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He is proceeded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, 2 brothers and 2 adopted brothers. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and will be remembered by many extended family and friends and will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
