Willam "Bill" Maurice Carney

William M. "Bill" Carney, 68, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at his home with his wife and friend at his side. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 18th at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and then at 2:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery with military rites conducted by the V.F.W. Post 1856 and the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, Rosary at 3:00 p.m., Vigil at 6:00 p.m. all at the funeral home. Among his survivors is his wife, Melinda of Fort Dodge; his children, Tony and his wife Marie of St. Paul, MN; Bart and his wife Toni, Britt, Bruce and his wife Kim all of Oklahoma; step-children, Darling and her husband Stacy, and Arron all of St. Paul, MN; 14 grandchildren; sisters, Connie and her husband Ron of Des Moines; Jane and her husband Rollin of Pocahontas; Maureen and her husband Jim of Fort Dodge; Mary and her husband Jim of Rodman; Linda of Sac City; and several nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter, Tami; brothers, Michael, Patrick, Thomas, Paul, James, and Stephen Carney, and his sister, Kay Lentz. William Maurice Carney Jr. was born to Williams and Rose (Ballard) Carney on January 11, 1947, in Emmetsburg, IA. He attended schools there. Following his education he served in the U.S. Navy from 1964 until his honorable discharge in 1967. For many years Bill worked at Greenfield Transportation. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and NASCAR races. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
