William "Bill" A. Thoma

William "Bill" A. Thoma, 76, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at Corpus Christi Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Barnum. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Vigil Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m. all at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Survivors include his wife, Connie of Fort Dodge; daughter, Lisa Caryl and her husband, Steve of Colo; 4 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; brothers, Chris of Fort Dodge; Randy of Barnum; Todd of Flordia; Joe of Riceville; and sister, Jean of Omaha. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cletus and Gertrude (Fecteau) Thoma; his son, Rick Thoma; and his brother, John Thoma. William A. Thoma was born on November 11, 1942 in Fort Oglethorpe, GA. He was raised and educated in the Barnum and Clare area; graduating from Northwest Webster High School in 1961. On November 13, 1965 he was united in marriage to Connie Hutchinson, they lived in Barnum for a short time before establishing their home in Fort Dodge. Bill worked for Webster County Maintenance; then for the City of Fort Dodge for 32 years until retiring in 1997 as a Captain of the Fort Dodge Fire Department. While working at the Fire Department he also installed fencing for Sears for 25 years and Midwest Fencing for 5 years. He was a member of the Moose Club, Fort Dodge Boat Club, Knights of Columbus Council 613, and Holy Trinity Parish. Bill enjoyed many years of being active in MAGWEED. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
