William C. Collins, 89, of Fort Dodge, passed away July 7, 2016 at the Marian Home, Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2016 in the Chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be at Corpus Christi Cemetery with a Military flag presentation by the United States Army Honor Guard. A visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Survivors include his wife, Mary; children, Maureen (Mark) Fischer of Richfield, MN; Sharon (Reyburn) Rosalez of Fort Dodge; Sheila (Brian) Wayson of North Liberty; Sean (Keri) Collins of Johnston; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Patrick (Jayne) Collins of Mankato, MN; Dennis Collins of Independence, MO; Michael (Betty) Collins of Smyrna, GA; Mary (Bill) Schultz of Palm Desert, CA; and Richard (Patricia) Collins of Sioux City, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary (Suer) Collins; and Brothers Jim Collins, Edmund Collins and Sister-in-law Martha Collins. William Cornelius Collins was born October 13, 1926 in Humboldt. Later, the family moved to Fort Dodge where he attended school at Corpus Christi Academy. After graduation, he entered the United States Army. William was then sent to Germany to serve in the Army of Occupation. He received his Honorable Discharge from the Army in 1946. William worked at Gus Glaser's Meats until the company closed. He was employed for a short time at Electrolux Plant in Webster City. William then accepted employment with the Fort Dodge Community Schools until retiring in 1997. He was a long-term member of Corpus Christi Church. William was a participant of various activities related to his faith such as Cursillo, which was a special highlight for both Bill & Mary, Marriage Encounter, and prayer groups. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. William and his wife, Mary, spent time in Arizona during the winter months and enjoyed playing golf both here and in Arizona. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
