Dr. William E. Baber, 89, of Fort Dodge passed away Wednesday February, 26, 2014 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m., Saturday March 1st at First United Methodist Church, 127 North 10th St. Fort Dodge, with Rev. Andrea Kraushaar officiating. Entombment will follow at the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum at North Lawn Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by V.F.W. Post 1856 and the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. A visitation will be held Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. William Baber is survived by his sons, John A. Baber and his wife Karen of Waverly, IA; and Eugene H. Baber II of Denver, CO; his companion, Beverly Walker of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Jacob (Ashlinn) Baber of Cedar Falls; Sara Baber of Waverly; Katherine Baber of Waverly; William Baber II of Denver, CO;. Christopher Baber of Denver CO; great grandson, Jackson Baber of Cedar Falls ; and brother, Roland R. Baber of St. Louis, MO. William is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Adeline (Sowles) Baber; wife Paula Baber; great grandson, Jensen Paul Baber; sisters, Verdeane E. Marriot, Mary E. Gwin, Gladys L. Hall, Ruth A. Laney; and brother, Richard N. Baber. Dr. William E. Baber was born on February 2, 1925 in Lamoni, IA. He was raised and educated in Lamoni, graduating from Lamoni High School in 1943. He then served during WWII in the Navy Submarine Division in the South Pacific. He returned in 1946 and then attended Graceland College in Lamoni for 2 years, then went on to the University of Iowa in 1950 to receive his BS. 4 years later he finished his degree in Dentistry also from University of Iowa. in 1953, William was united in marriage to Paula Massieon in LaSalle, IL. In 1954, the couple established their home in Fort Dodge and William began his dental practice. In 1965, William received his masters from the University of Iowa in Orthodontics. He practiced in Fort Dodge until retiring in 2002. Since 1993, William has been spending his winters at his home in Sun Lakes, AZ. William is a member of the First United Methodist Church, V.F.W. Post 1856, and a past member of Rotary. Memorials may be left to the Trinity Foundation, for the benefit of the Paula J.
