William Harvey Hubbard

November 11, 1928 — July 19, 2014

William H. "Bill" Hubbard, 85, of Fort Dodge passed away Saturday July 19, 2014, at the Villa Care Center. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 24th at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Nathan Peitsch, officiating. Burial will follow at North Lawn Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the V.F.W. Post 1856 and the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 23rd from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Bill is survived by his daughters, Linda (Ted) Lay III of Annandale, VA; Leanna (Doug) Erickson of Des Moines; Lori Miller of Fort Dodge; daughter-in-law, Linda Hubbard of Fort Dodge; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; brothers, Art Hubbard of Le Grange, OR; Wilbur Hubbard of Fort Dodge; sister, Dixie Paulson of Fort Dodge, and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, George and Jennie (Anderson) Hubbard; wife, Elsie Mae; son, Terry Hubbard; great granddaughter, Madeline; son-in-law Bill Miller; brothers, Fred and Donald Hubbard; sister, Valetta Cooper and Violet McGuire; and an infant sister, Ellen Hubbard. William Harvey Hubbard was born November 11, 1928 in Fort Dodge. He attended schools here. Following his education he enlisted with the U.S. Navy serving from 1946 to 1947. He was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Shangri-La. On June 13, 1949, he was united in marriage to Elsie Mae Buckley at St. Paul Lutheran Church and the couple made their home in Fort Dodge. From 1951 until he retired in 1980 Bill worked at Hormel's Packing Plant. He enjoyed playing cards, especially "500" and playing bingo with his friends at the Villa Care Center. Bill was lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
