William J Maguire

William (Bill) J. Maguire, 70, of Fort Dodge, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2014 at the Marian Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 in the chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 at Sacred Heart Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 on Tuesday at the funeral home with a Vigil at 7:00. William Jon Maguire was born May 20, 1944 to Eugene Arthur and Bernice Elizabeth (Storm) Maguire in Algona, IA while his father was serving in the Navy during WWII. During that time, the family resided with Bill's mother's parents in Algona. After the war, they returned to Fort Dodge. Bill attended Holy Rosary Grade School and was a 1964 graduate of St. Edmond High School. Later, he was employed at Wiewel Drug Store and also ran "Bill's Popcorn Shop" in downtown Fort Dodge. He then moved to Rockford, IL and worked as an office clerk for the Federal Job Corps Program which subsequently became The Rock River Training Corps - City of Rockford. He worked there as a data entry processor. Born with cerebral palsy, Bill's disabilities worsened. After living in Rockford for 19 years, he retired and returned to Fort Dodge in 1997. Since October 2010, he resided at the Marian home where staff and residents became his family. Bill is survived by his brother, Murray Maguire of Fort Dodge; sisters, Pat (Roy) Ackerson of Twin Lakes and Peg Maguire of Puyallup, WA; 12 nephews and nieces and their children; and nine grandchildren. Bill loved his family and enjoyed gathering with them for special celebrations. Bill's greatest joy was listening to all types of music including Reverend David Hemann's collections. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; sister, Molly Ann Maguire; and nephew, Mark Eugene Johnson. Memorials may be left to discretion of the family.
