William (David) McCaleb, 62, of Fort Dodge died Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 2018 in the chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Anderson officiating. Friends may call from noon until the time of the service. David is survived by his wife, Martha McCaleb of Fort Dodge; daughters, Brittany McCaleb and Mariah Thompson of Fort Dodge; granddaughter, Sadie; brothers, Dennis Webster and Wayne McCaleb both of Des Moines; sisters Arlene Bright of Des Moines and Jill McCaleb of Otho; 2 step-brothers; 2 step-sisters; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clemmie and Debouras (Anderson) McCaleb and son, Wade Wheat. William David McCaleb was born June 5, 1955 in Fort Dodge. He attended Fort Dodge public schools, graduating from Fort Dodge Senior High. He then attended Iowa Central Community College. Following his education, David worked at Hormel's for many years. On October 6, 1989 he was united in marriage to Martha Wheat. The couple made their home in Fort Dodge. Upon the closing of the Hormel plant, David became employed with the Fort Dodge Public School System and worked there for many years until retiring in 2003 as the head custodian. In recent years, David worked and volunteered at AFES. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
