Wilmer Gene Anderson

Wilmer "Gene" Anderson, 84, of Fort Dodge passed away Monday, December 30, 2019 at his home. Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Friday, January 3, 2019 at First Covenant Church with Rev. Allen Redenius officiating. Burial will be in Lost Grove Township Cemetery, near Harcourt. A visitation will be 11:30 AM until the start of the service at the church. Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home is serving the family. Gene is survived by his wife, Lois of Fort Dodge; sons, Ken (Denise) Anderson and Keith Anderson both of Fort Dodge and Loren Anderson of Webster City; grandchildren, TJ (Allison) Mernka, Zach Mernka, Katelyn (Robert) Benkelman, Gracie Anderson, and Jennifer (Paul) Gardner; great grandchildren, Callie, Joshua, Julian; sister, Mary (Ted) Carlson of Titusville, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Velma (Carr) Anderson and daughter, Linda Anderson. Wilmer Gene Anderson was born February 10, 1935 in Iowa City. He was raised and educated in Fort Dodge; graduating from Fort Dodge Senior High School. On June 6, 1956 he was united in marriage to Lois Sandberg and the couple made their home in Fort Dodge. Gene was employed with various departments within the city of Fort Dodge before retiring after working for 34 years. Gene and Lois were active in the foster parent program for many years.
