Yvonne Mary (Nelson) Bourdeaux, 71 of Fort Dodge, Iowa passed away on March 16, 2020 after a hard-fought battle against cancer. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Gerald Bourdeaux, daughters Michelle Narum, Nichole (Melvin) Scoville, Danielle (Cory ) Pratt, Joelle (Craig) Irvin and twelve grandchildren, Reice, Judson and Ainsley Narum, Allison Scoville, Elise, Adelle, Oliver, Gabriel and Julia Pratt, Elijah, Lydia and Emmet Irvin, siblings Stanley Nelson, Jeanette Nelson, Joyce Nelson, Christopher Nelson and Cheryl (Mark) Swadner and many nieces and nephews and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents Edna and Raymond Nelson, sister Karen Lippman and infant granddaughter Melanie Scoville. Yvonne was born October 25, 1948 in Chicago, IL, she was raised in Minneapolis, MN. After graduating from Minneapolis West High School, Yvonne worked several jobs including a teller at Minneapolis Bank, an in-home daycare provider and as an Executive Secretary at Land'OLakes Foods. Yvonne and Jerry were married on June 7, 1969 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in New Brighton, MN. In 1989 they moved to Fort Dodge, Iowa where they ran a successful Knights of Columbus Insurance Agency. After retiring in 2009, Yvonne spent her time doing what she truly loved, spending time with her twelve grandchildren. She was affectionately referred to as the "Granny Nanny" by her family, often driving many hours to spend time with the little ones. In her spare time, Yvonne enjoyed volunteering with the Smeltzer House, the Holy Trinity Parish Food Pantry, and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Yvonne also loved to host wonderful holiday celebrations with family. She enjoyed attending plays and concerts and enjoyed traveling. She will be missed beyond measure. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the family. The family will celebrate Yvonne's life with a private visitation and Mass of Christian Burial.
